Child Sponsorship FAQs

What is child sponsorship?

Child sponsorship is a commitment to make regular donations to support the education, healthcare, and well-being of a child in need through the Rehmat Education and Empowerment.

How does my sponsorship help a child?

Your sponsorship provides a child with access to quality education, vocational training, nutritious meals, healthcare, and essential supplies—improving their overall well-being and future prospects.

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

The cost to sponsor a child is Rs.10,000 per month, this contribution covers the child's education, meals, and other essential needs.

Is sponsorship like adoption?

No, the child you sponsor will, in most cases, have a family of their own. Sponsorship provides financial support or resources without legal parental rights or responsibilities.

Can I correspond with the child I sponsor?

Yes, you can exchange letters and photos with your sponsored child. This interaction encourages and motivates the child and allows you to build a personal connection. You are welcome to email your sponsored child, via the Child Sponsorship Coordinator, but being a sponsor does not oblige you to communicate directly with the child.

If sending correspondence, here are some general guidelines:

  • Keep it short and simple. In most cases the email will be read or translated by someone whose first language is not English.
  • Please do not include your address, to keep your personal information private and confidential.
  • Sending an email or attaching a scanned photo or drawing is the quickest way to communicate with your sponsored child.
Will I receive update about my sponsored child?

Absolutely! You'll receive regular updates about your sponsored child's progress in school, achievements, and how your contribution is making a difference in their life.

How long is the sponsorship commitment?

Sponsorship is typically an ongoing commitment, lasting until the child completes their education and vocational training or becomes self-sufficient. You may choose to sponsor for a specific period as well. Regular communication and transparency are the key components of our sponsorship programme, and we will keep you informed of your sponsored child’s future plans when they complete their education/training.

Can I send a gift or extra money to my sponsored child?

Unfortunately, we do not have such a provision because when some children receive extra gifts or money, others may feel left out. We believe in treating all children in the programme equally and fairly. If you'd like to donate a little extra, we encourage you to do so outside of sponsorship so we can provide gifts to all children and ensure equal treatment.

What if I need to discontinue my sponsorship?

If you need to discontinue your sponsorship, you can do so at any time. We appreciate if you can inform us in advance, and we'll ensure that the child continues to receive support.

What happens to children that aren’t sponsored?

When children are not sponsored, the Rehmat Education and Empowerment covers their educational needs and other expenses using its resources. Committed to providing quality education and support, the foundation ensures every child at Rehmat School can learn and grow, regardless of sponsorship status, because all children deserve a bright future.

Can I visit my sponsored child?

Yes, sponsors are welcome to visit their sponsored children. Visits should be arranged through us, following our guidelines to ensure the safety and privacy of the child.

What measures are taken to ensure the child's safety and privacy?

Rehmat Education and Empowerment prioritises the safety and privacy of all children. We have strict safeguarding policies in place to protect their identities and personal information.

Can I sponsor more than one child?

Absolutely! You can sponsor as many children as you wish, helping more children receive the education and support they need.
